Epiphany Writing

Epiphany Writing

As many of you know, in addition to being a novelist, I am also a high school English teacher. As I was grading some essays for my AP Language and Composition class the other day, I thought it was really a tragedy that the better ones would never be seen by anyone other than me. I thought it was a shame that there was no way for those essays to be published, and that’s when I had my epiphany:

Why not use my blog to share some of the better essays with a wider viewing audience?

With that thought in mind, I am pleased to announce the launch of Epiphany Writing, a non-profit way for high school and college students to publish their non-fiction essays and short stories.  This will be an imprint of my blog, so it will be small and informal, but for students who aspire to be published some day, it’s a great way to get your writing out to the public and to begin to build a following.

Because this is a small, informal writing outlet (notice the repetition of small and informal), posts are likely to be unscheduled and infrequent, but will always be released on a Saturday. I still want to maintain a professional element, so all posts will be vetted through a submissions process. Submissions guidelines can be found here.

I’m excited to see where this idea goes, and hope to feature a lot of exceptional writing.

A Table of Contents for these posts can be found here.
